REAL HORROR: The Aokigahara Forest

aokigahara-forest

One thing I’ve always found extremely satisfying is the idea of [large] Forests. I like the concept of the lush atmosphere, the trees looming around, and most of all: the sunlight – peering trough the tree trunks, reminding you that there is an exit if you happen to delve too deep. But like many things I like, there’s usually a dark side to it, [I promise, I’m not just referencing Star Wars!] maybe there’s vicious animals living inside that forest, or maybe there is no exit, or maybe there is dead people among the trees…but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s rewind.

Another thing I’ve always had an interest in is Japan: with it’s culture, the way of life, the food – it’s all something I’d love to experience first hand if given the chance. Of course, this ties in with the first thing I mentioned – as Japan is home to many Forests, specifically one. At the base of Japan’s iconic Mt. Fuji lies one such Forest. Although beautiful to look at from a distance, [see it here!] at the base of this post card looking mountain lies [what some believe is] a haunted destination of broken souls known as Aokigahara, often referred to as the “Sea Of Trees”…or more infamously as the “Suicide Forest.” That’s right, that new movie: The Forest is based on this Aokigahara, and although I’ve read a lot of negative reviews on the movie[which is unfortunate because I was looking forward to that one!] I’m here to talk to you about the actual Forest located in Japan. Be forewarned though, this has the potential to get very depressing, as we’re talking about a real place where people go to commit suicide. If you think you’re still ready to go forward, read on. I promise my next post will be more positive! Think of cats, or something that makes you happy while reading this: cause this post is about to get dark and depressing..

there’s still time to turn back if you wanted to..

From the very moment you step into Aokigahara, it quickly becomes obvious that something is slightly “off” about the place, mainly the eerie silence. The harsh density of the closely packed trees blocks any sign of the sun or wind, making it a dark and uncomfortable blanket of quiet. It doesn’t help either, when you begin to realize a lack of wildlife in the area.  The sounds of birds that you’d  come to expect to hear from a Forest are.. missing. Some have described the quality of sounds in Aokigahara as somewhat muted, almost as if they were being heard from another room. And that’s not even the scary part.. While walking around, people have claimed that they’ve ‘become aware’ of bizarre and creepy litter strewn about the forest floor. Things like pairs of shoes – both for children and adults – have been seen lined up on moss covered logs. Things like a packet of entirely mundane photographs, with song lyrics scribbled on the envelope. Even things like a child’s doll lying on top of the twisted roots of a [dead] tree. They seem out of place, even random, especially seeing as they come off as abandoned items left to rot among the trees. The thing is, even if they are random.. they give off a growing sense of foreboding and uneasiness.

ikwmysk

Regardless of all this though, many tourists still visit the area [willingly!] to see the scenery and the numerous rocky caverns that are scattered throughout the Forest. Many of these caverns are deemed too dangerous to the unaware, with warning signs in front of most, and even amongst the thick trees..but for some reason, large numbers of visitors still brave the trek just to see them every year. But remember what I said above? Remember what this Forest is known for? That’s right, I’m talking about the poor, lost souls who come here every year to die.

That’s right! After all, it is called the Suicide Forest for a reason. Often referred to as “The perfect place to die,” Aokigahara is said to be the most popular place to commit suicide in Japan and the second in the world after The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Believe it or not, it’s been happening since [at least] the 1950s. This Forest has attracted ever growing numbers of people who come to the silence and the solemn for their final breaths, with the year 2003 seeing a record number of 108 suicides. What’s even more depressing is that these numbers are from the bodies that are found by monthly patrols and annual “body hunts,” which is when police and volunteers search the Forest for victims..

just some of the remains found in Aokigahara

Even if 108 seems like a lot of deaths, you have to consider – the number is likely even higher because of some of the areas within the forest such as: the numerous caves, crevasses, and caverns. Not to mention, the Forest’s ability to quickly and thoroughly decompose remains with how dead the Forestry is. Some of the bodies of these victims are stumbled across by accident by visitors, who, while hiking through the otherwise beautiful wilderness seem to come across the horrific sight of a corpse hung from a tree. The sad reality is that it’s quite literally impossible for police and volunteers to locate all of the deceased that seem to be hidden away within this dark Forest, or to accurately estimate how many have died. The only thing that seems to be known for sure is that every year, the number of those who come to Aokigahara to die seems to be increasing yearly.

Of course, there’s many theories as to why these lonely souls drawn to Aokigahara. One of the more popular theories claiming it’s supernatural forces within the Forest that call them. Some survivors of suicide attempts [who attempted in Aokigahara] have told accounts of having the feeling of being somehow called to or ‘pulled towards’ the Forest.. or even having the inexplicable compulsion to make a trip to “visit.”

u8rtj3m

just one of many crevasses found in the Forest

This isn’t the only time Aokigahara has had mentions of paranormal happenings though. Even before records started being kept on suicides within Aokigahara Forest, the area had long been seeped in spooky lore and mythology. This Forest was long believed to be the living space of demons and ghosts who lived among the trees, who enjoyed terrifying travelers. It is also theorized that it was once a popular place for the [very unfortunate]practice of something called ubasutea custom which has a sick or elderly relative who was purposely abandoned in a abandoned location such as a mountainside or [in this case] a Forest, only to behind: left to die – in the case of Aokigahara, locals claim that the victims of ubasate had became vengeful ghosts, and started living among the trees; preying on the weak.

Needless to say, Aokigahara is a very sad and very real place. It’s claimed the lives of thousands, if not more; with the number ever growing. Today’s question is somewhat difficult to answer, so I understand if you don’t really know how to respond: why do You think people go to Aokigahara? Is it really “the most beautiful place to die?” Or are these people being called by demons, vengeful spirits, or some other indescribable evil force? Let me know what Your thoughts are in the comments below. If you aren’t entirely sure of an answer, fear not! Because in all honesty… I feel that only those lost and forgotten souls – the ones who spent their last moments in this dark and quiet shadow-like Forest of Mt. Fuji – will ever know the real answer for sure..

Tom Six’s NEWEST film is COMING: & It’s NOT another “Human Centipede” sequel!

Whether you love him or hate him, Tom Six has made a name for himself in Hollywood; with a trilogy of films that people aren’t exactly proud to say they know by name. With Six’s grand finale – The Human Centipede III: Full Sequence, coming to DVD/Blu ray on October 27th, [read my review on the third film here!] the director is now officially ready to release yet another treat for fans: this time, in the form of his debut film: [which was initially released in 2008!] What The F**k?!, [which is also known as “I Love Dries” in some countries] which will also be coming to home video, with English subtitles, in the near future.. though no exact date has been confirmed as of yet. But, knowing that international audiences are getting a film [albeit, almost 8 years later!] tells me that Six was waiting for the perfect time to re-release it. And Who knows? It’s possible this is a decent film, which’ll help sooth the feeling of how bad Final Sequence was.. There’s no trailer for this film released yet, though I’m sure if you were to dig deep into Youtube, you might be able to find something related from it’s initial release. However, we do have a synopsis for the film, which after reading it, it naturally sounds fucked up! [though, what do we really expect from the man who gave us Human Centipede?] Curious? Read on!

“What the F**k?! is an hilarious black comedy about famous Dutch singer Dries Roelvink, who is kidnapped by his two biggest fans to their trailer in the middle of nowhere. They don’t want an autograph though, but something completely different. As it turns out, the couple’s biggest wish is to have a baby of their own, but the husband is infertile. Dries is forced to live with this gruesome twosome until he gets the woman pregnant..”

If that’s not interesting, I don’t know what is! [I use the term ‘interesting’ very lightly] Because we don’t have anything we can really work with yet, I’ve included the film’s poster and a few screenshots from the film itself below! This way, you can decide for yourself if the film looks worthwhile; or a waste of time..The part that truly raises questions to me, is why Dries Roelvink agreed to play himself? Especially, based on the story! It doesn’t help that reviews I’ve seen online have been somewhat positive..though, the viewers may enjoy this kind of thing..

Once again, no trailer has been released for the film yet – at least, not an international one [don’t hold me to that, there might be no trailer at all.. yet!] but the film has an interesting concept..at least as far as Tom Six goes. The one thing that has me concerned is that it’s a black comedy, [much like Human Centipede III was] meaning it could go either way. Also, being as this is a re-release of Six‘s first film; who knows where it’ll go? As I said above, I’ve read a few positive reviews on this film, and that could be a good thing..or not.

How do you feel though about What The F**k?! ? Is it a unique concept, that will make it become a good watch/a cult classic? Or is it something that’s going to make Tom Six‘s name skyrocket through Hollywood.. as one of the worst directors of this day and age? Let me know in a comment or two! I’m both genuinely concerned, but also curious about the film.. I’ll probably watch it – just to say I did; but for no other reason! REAL HORROR: the dentist who creates mutations! [somewhat NSFW]

Ever wanted to make you own monster? Imagine: you could choose it’s number of eyes and/or it’s skin tone; it could literally be your monster. Now, let’s meet Morgan Loebel, a dentist technician from Kansas turned ‘Mutant Maker’. Morgan makes his very own creatures, monsters and mutated masterpieces out of polymer clay, and I must say.. they’re horrifyingly disgusting! [yet, I love the realism] Apparently this guy’s work is nothing new to some, but I’ve only just stumbled upon it and I’m shocked at the details!

After spending over 20 years making thousands of false teeth through his work as a dental lab technician, Loebel seems to have found his true calling after starting to use Polymer Clay back in 2012. Good thing too, because these monsters are probably the most life-like I’ve ever seen.. He claims that spending his days ‘fabricating realistic, detailed crowns, bridges and other dental prosthesis’ played a key role in his ‘progression from dental tech to mutant maker.’ He now makes anything from phone cases, to necklaces [with suspended teeth] to Necronomicon art; and for those curious – I will be posting pictures of some of his work at the end of this post. They’re even available for purchase on His Etsy page, where you can find one of a kind collectables ranging from hand sculpted polymer clay items to original artwork! According to his Etsy page, he’s been asked the same question since the beginning, which he answers with: “yes..all realistic eyes and teeth that are used in my works are handmade and you cannot get them anywhere else but here.” His work takes several weeks to complete, but the end result is staggering. It’s truly unique.

Take a look at the picture above, Morgan made this for a robot art contest online and even claims that he may be putting it up for sale soon! Though, like many of the comments on the photo agree; I feel he should keep it, as a personal trophy of his accomplishments thus far! According to the description of the picture, he always thought nano technology was interesting, With his idea for the ‘robot art’ contest began as a frightening article he had read a couple years ago on how these nanobots could be weaponized! So naturally, this is what he came up with, and I have to say; it’s creepy – but probably how things would turn out!!

Now I know you guys have been patient with my incessant praising of the art, and the explanations, so I’ll give you what you’ve been waiting for: the pictures. shall we begin with a phone case? remember, all the eyes/teeth on these “pieces of art” are fake, regardless of how real they seem to look! [somewhat NSFW]

It’s just mind numbing to realize that the teeth, the eyes, and even the saliva is fake. You can tell that Morgan worked with teeth for awhile, because he certainly knows how to add to the realism.. But, let’s say you like your phone case, and you’re not interested in buying one of the above cases; what about a necklace or two? For your loved one[s], of course!

I mean, I can only imagine the look on people’s faces if you walked by wearing one of these around your neck! I’m not entirely a fan of the second necklace [above] but I’m sure there are people that do! The last picture I’ll share [I’ll let his pages do the talking for him!] is a commissioned ‘portrait’ he did for someone.. What I’m saying is, that instead of just the face [like the phone cases] he actually made a portrait statue for someone – and it’s probably [in my opinion] the best one yet. Check it, below!

In closing, Morgan Loebel definitely has a ‘certain kind of fan base’, no doubt especially in the horror scene. The details, and the realism just make his art ‘pop’, which shows us that some people are just great at what they do. And just think, Morgan started as a Dentist Tech.. If you still can’t get enough of his ‘work’, be sure to check out his Etsy page or even his page on Facebook, where he sometimes takes requests from fans!

TRAILER THOUGHTS: Human Centipede III [Final Sequence]

I hope you’re excited – because I certainly am. Because It’s finally landed: The Human Centipede III trailer is here; and it’s going to be a good one! Up until now, all we had was a teaser poster [as seen above] and a sound clip – which, realistically, doesn’t tell us much. The film will be released to [limited] theaters and Video On Demand on May 22, and I’m fucking stoked. Now, the cool thing about these films is the first film had Dieter Laser, the sequel had Laurence R. Harvey, and now this third and final film has both of them working together; along with series newcomer Eric Roberts..because he’s still relevant , somehow.

I remember seeing the first Human Centipede film and being upset at how it played out – being almost mad that it was more of a “mind-fuck” of a film, where we saw little to no gore. It wasn’t nearly as bad [though, it was pretty inappropriate] as people online had made it sound.. and then I saw the sequel. The sequel was what I expected from the first film; and more! It was extremely gruesome, it was violent, and it was fucked. It still stands as one of the only films I cringe at! [that teeth knock-out scene, though!] Now we have The Final Sequence, and it’s looking crazy, really crazy – Almost to the point where it’s laughable, but for some odd reason – I’m getting more and more excited for it! I mean, just how can they top the first two films?

Like I said above, we finally got the trailer [which will be posted at the end] for the final sequence and for some reason, I’m actually looking forward to the film. It looks weird, it looks all kinds of wrong, but most of all: it looks fun to watch. [never thought I’d say that about this series..] Although the films are fucked, I have to hand it to Tom Six, he definitely has a way with making sequels.  These films are finally coming to an end, so here’s hoping it goes out with a bang! [fun fact: it’s supposed to be filmed in such a way, that all three films can be watched together: like a legitimate centipede. Well played, Tom Six]

Synopsis:

“Bully prison warden Bill Boss [played by Dieter Laser], leading a big state prison in the US of A, has a lot of problems; his prison statistically has the highest amount of prison riots, medical costs and staff turnover in the country. But foremost he is unable to get the respect he thinks he deserves from his inmates and the state Governor. [Eric Roberts] He constantly fails in experimenting with different ideas for the ideal punishment to get the inmates in line, which drives him, together with the sizzling heat, completely insane! Under threats of termination by the Governor, his loyal right hand man Dwight [Laurence R Harvey] comes up with a brilliant idea: A revolutionary idea which could change the American prison system for good and save billions of dollars. An idea based on the notorious Human Centipede movies, that will literally and figuratively get the inmates on their knees, creating the ultimate punishment and deterrent for anyone considering a life of crime. Having nothing to lose, Bill and Dwight create a jaw-dropping 500-person prison centipede.”

Even just reading that synopsis concerns me: I mean, a 500 person centipede? Talk about insane! the thing is though, Tom Six, the director/writer of these notorious films; has stated this one isn’t going to be “as bad” as the first two films. Does this mean it won’t be as gory as Full Sequence? I guess we’ll have to see. Don’t take all this from me head on though, check out the trailer for yourself below!

How do you feel about a third Human Centipede film? Are you a fan of these films or are they films that just shouldn’t have been made in the first place? With Final Sequence being the final film, and I can promise it’ll be reviewed as soon as I get the chance to watch it! Just as a reminder, the film is being released on May 22, 2015 – which is coming closer everyday. Let me know what you think in a comment or two.

warrenisweird’s top 05 SEXIEST female killers in horror

top05sexiest

Imagine for a minute that you’re watching a horror film [like there’s any other kind you’d be watching] and you can’t help but notice that the killer is a girl .. now, imagine that the female killer may not be justified in her ways, but for some reason, you find her attractive. Does that pose a problem? or does her being “evil” make her even hotter?

In today’s post, I’m going to share five of my personal favorite female killers that I find attractive. Whether or not you agree, is up to you. Please be aware that the idea behind this post is for just for fun, and is not meant to be sexist in any sort of way. Also, like with my usual lists, the following is in no particular order. Start looking at some horror babes with me, right after the jump!

Mary Mason: American Mary

One of my more favorite femme fatales, Mary is one person I wouldn’t want to mess around with. With expert surgical skills, she knows the human body almost too well, that alone could earn her a spot on this list!

actress: Katharine Isabelle

Marie: High Tension

High Tension is an interesting french film that follows two college friends, Marie and Alexa, who encounter some trouble [and some major blood] while they are on vacation at Alexa‘s parents’ country home.  The film is insanely brutal, but the ending is where it’s truly one for the books! I’m not always one for short hair, but with Marie, it works beautifully.

actress: Cecile de France

Baby Firefly: The Devil’s Rejects

Say what you will, but I’ve got this weird thing for Baby in this movie. I’m pretty sure it’s her playful-like behavior [which can get annoying], but there’s also the fact of her ripped jeans. She also has this evil, yet maniacal laugh, which is a definite plus!

actress: Sherri Moon Zombie

Jennifer HillsI Spit On Your Grave [2010]

Though this may be in bad taste, considering [in the movie] she gets bruised, beaten, raped, and then left for dead; but something about a vengeful writer just makes the world a better place.

actress: Sarah Butler

Debra Morgan: Dexter

while technically from a show, it took me until Dexter to appreciate the actress this time around, even though she has been in horror movies such as The Exorcism Of Emily Rose. As seen in the promo art above, how could you not like her? her outfit [and that knife!] just adds to the hot coming off of this horror babe!

actress: Jennifer Carpenter

now that’s a zom-babe.

The thing I’ve learned through writing movie lists is that there are obviously so many other choices I could have picked, but I have to narrow it down to only five. Who would you choose if you were to pick five female killers from horror movies [current or classic films!] who would you choose? Let me know in a comment on here, or over on Facebook:

while you’re over there, why not hit that “like” button? By clicking “like”, you’ll see every post the moment it’s been posted; if that’s not convincing enough, I also share things that will not be featured here on the blog, so be sure to tell the horror enthusiast in your life to do the same!

sorry everyone: I DON’T think HOSTEL is just violence!

HostelJustGore Oh, Hostel series. You really got people talking, don’t you? Even after 10 years of your initial release, people still mention how you’re insignificant amongst the others in the horror scene. But I don’t. I actually think you have a special place in this wide world of fear; making people think you’re only good for one thing: blood, and violence. But are you really just a mindless blood-bath? That’s what I’m going to be talking about: because I don’t like to believe what I’m hearing.

In the case of the Hostel films, I only tend to hear about it’s cringe-worthiness or even complaints that the series is part of a sub-genre of horror known as torture porn. According to Urban Dictionary, the term ‘torture porn’ was a term coined by various film critics who felt [and still feel] that the current trend in horror Hollywood consists of having no plot whatsoever but instead, we the viewers get gratuitous graphic imagery of people having body parts removed, from legs, heads to even genitalia; torture porn is definitely a sub-genre that doesn’t fit everyone‘s bill. The most common films that fall under this category are the SAW films [which I’ve talked about on here a dozen times] and, the reason why I’m talking about them, the Hostel trilogy. Now, I am a fairly large fan of both series, [so I might come across as bias] but I will admit that the later SAW films [more so SAW IV and onward] did fit the stereotypical torture porn category, but part of me is not so convinced that the Hostel films do.

In the first film, we learn of three backpackers: Paxton, Josh, and Oli who all decide to head to a Slovak city that promises to meet their male chauvinistic expectations, with no idea of the hellish tortures that await them when they arrive. Within my first viewing, I fell into the thought process that everyone else had: that it was just a g0re-fest for the sake of filming a gore-fest. But was it really? Let’s delve a little deeper into the film, and for that reason – I’m going to issue a fair-sized spoiler warning.

For this particular argument, I’m only using one point: the plot.. or more importantly, the EHC. Whether you agree or not, the movies do far more than just show blood, guts and everything in between; they actually has a genuine story attached.I mean, yeah; we have the bullshit about the three guys wanting – and succeeding – to sleep with Natalya and Svetlana [and I mean who wouldn’t?] but the real thing I find the most intriguing is the Elite Hunting club. [it’s funny cause their club’s logo is a dog: and that dog is a blood hound..get it?] This “club” and it’s “members” are super important not only because they are our main villain, [they are just as important in the sequels!] but because of what – or who – they really are: extremely fucked up individuals.

writer’s note: this is the part where I take a deep breath, cause this is going to be a long winded piece of writing..

According to Hostel and Hostel: Part II, this “club” had used a hostel in Slovakia. In this “hostel”, the “players” [who ultimately become victims] check in and give their passport to the desk clerk who then uploads the images to the EHC website. From the moment the photos are placed online, the members can start bidding actual cash on their victims of choice. The highest bidder gets the victim. [sort of like a fucked up eBay?] The catch is, that the member [sometimes more than one] have to travel to Slovakia to claim their prize. If they can’t make it to Slovakia, they lose their chance and the other members get a second chance to bid! Once arrived, the organization provides the client with the best services in a hotel while the organization takes care of the rest [kidnapping the victims, placing them in a underground bunker, standard stuff]. Once kidnapped, the members are told and they can head out, and go to the location of the facility. There, they choose the “tools of the trade” that they wish to use to torture their victim they just “bought”. Then when they’re officially ready to begin, they are dressed up. [quite professionally, might I add] Mostly does the torturers wear standard orange jumpsuits, leather caps and a leather apron [as seen worn by Stewart and Todd] but in Hostel: Part 2, we see a female EHC member who wears only maroon cloak, but, she eventually removes that goes completely nude. [check that out here! NSFW] If desired, the member can even choose how their victim is dressed, if they are chained in a chair, laying on a stretcher or even chained on a crucifix!

Like any other organization, the EHC has rules to follow: [in this case, two rules] no one leaves without killing and no one leaves with being a member or becoming a member of the organization. The last rule is only for the rich victims because you need money in order to become a member. In the event that a victim escapes without becoming a member, he/she will be hunted down and eventually: decapitated. His or her head will become a trophy for Sasha – the head boss of the organization. Interestingly enough, in Hostel: Part III, we learn that the EHC also have a facility in Las Vegas. [which makes sense, cause Part 2 taught us that the EHC is a world wide phenomenon] like before, they use a hostel to attract victims, sending them to room 9. The concept of this facility is slightly different, though.. complete in style of Las Vegas, the members now bet on how a victim will be killed. They look in from behind a glass window while the victim is tortured and if desired, they can participate in this ‘game’ with the Wheel Of Misfortune. [which I feel is a really lame name for a torture ploy]

According to Eli Roth himself, the films weren’t intended to be mindless violence. Hostel is supposed to be about how Americans view the world and how they tend to behave towards other countries- thinking the world is their playground and that they are untouchable. Remember the scene at the beginning of Hostel where the guy gets the characters to go to Slovakia by simply claiming its a war-torn country with absolutely no women? Anyone with knowledge of Eastern/Central European history would know that isn’t true at all! In short, the film is meant to come off as a huge joke about how Americans view the world around them. As for Hostel: Part 2, it’s about the “corporate killing” mentality. Now, obviously, we can argue that Roth’s intentions were not executed as well as he may have hoped, [that, or they were so buried by the gore that they’re difficult to recognize] but the point is Hostel, and it’s sequels, have some intentional social commentary. As long as one takes the time to look.

In the end, I feel that the Hostel films can be considered a bit more than just “gore for the sake of gore”. I mean, there is a significant amount of blood and gore, but The Elite Hunting Club is far more interesting than people give it credit for. Unfortunately, I’m only a fan of the first two Hostel films. I gave the third one a watch [it is on Netflix] and it greatly disappointed me: especially when it took the second film’s cliffhanger, and threw it out the window. [maybe just ignore Part 3..] The films are entertaining, more-so if you’re a horror fan, just don’t buy into them being “just torture porn”. Cause they’re really not..

THANKS FOR READING.

[also – a fun fact: according Eli Roth, he got the idea for the film after getting email about an organization who claimed to sell people to rich western men and women to let them shoot at them with real guns. this email claimed that would happen in Thailand]

[very] NSFW: Bouquet Of Guts & Gore gets itself a grotesque trailer

american-guinea-pig.jpg

Oh yes. this is happening. and no, I’m not that excited for it.

Inspired by the original Japanese Guinea Pig movies, one of which famously is known for having led Charlie Sheen to call the FBI under the impression it was a real snuff film! This “chapter” promises a “bouquet of guts and gore”, [hence the film’s title] and have thus released an extremely NSFW trailer. [due to the graphic content of the following video, you might have to sign into Youtube to confirm your age]

Looking at the trailer above, it shows that some horror fans really can’t get enough of the gore. and for that reason, they will try to find the goriest film[s] they can find – whether it’s for entertainment purposes or to shock friends and/or family. Eventually, if they were to look hard enough, they’d come across The Guinea Pig films. [also known as “ギニーピッグ” or “Ginī Piggu”] Because not much is known about this “sequel” other than what the trailer has shown us, let’s talk about the original film[s] for a bit.

skeleton-mask.jpg

a face only a mother could love..

The [generalized] plot revolves around a man dressed as a samurai [played by Hino himself] kidnapping a woman, drugging her and taking her to his home. When they arrive, he then proceeds to dismember her and ends by finally adding her body parts to an extensive collection. These films are actually a seven-part series [yeah! you read that right! there are seven of these films!] of controversial Japanese gore horror films, which were made from the 1980-1990s. The series went on to become a blemish on the horror genre globally, mainly for the fact that the producer needed to prove that nobody was actually hurt or murdered! The producer of these “films”, Hideshi Hino, has claimed that the original concept for the movies, was to create a film adaptation of his manga work. The special effects were explained in the 1986 documentary Making Of Guinea Pig.

So the real question here is how do you feel about this “movie” ? is it just mindless violence; or is it “art”? Let me know in a comment or two below! Also, note that I kept putting the word “movie” in quotations during this post- before I get a 1000000 questions as to why, it’s just that I really wouldn’t consider this cinema/art.. be sure to follow me over on Facebook, less than 40 more likes until 100[I’d really appreciate it if you hit that “like” button!]

England rollercoaster hits a deer [meanwhile riders are splashed with blood!]

It seems I’m delayed on talking about this, but it’s definitely new information to me. It seems a few days ago, at a theme park called Lighwater Valley in Ripon, UK, there was an accident on one of the rides. The ride in question: known as “The Ultimate” [it’s actually one of the longest roller coasters in Europe] has been reported [by The Mirror] to have hit a deer at over 50mph after the poor animal mindlessly wandered onto the track..at the worst possible time. Now, the next picture I’m going to post involves blood, and remember, this is a real thing that has happened.

If that’s not enough, there were [obviously] patrons on the ride at the time of the incident, meaning as the deer crossed the track, the ride’s car[s] went zooming past, killing it instantly [and splashed everyone on board] Thankfully, no one was injured in any way, although the 1.5 mile ride had to be closed for half an hour while checks were carried out. Due to the instant death of the deer, it didn’t suffer by any means.

that’s gonna be hard to wash out.. sorry..

As it’s expected, a couple of visitors that were on the ride during the incident blood on their clothing, but no riders commented about the incident on the day other than to show concern for the fate of the [now dead] deer. As a horror fan, this certainly seems like something that would happen in a Final Destination film, specifically the third, except with a deer instead of a group of patrons.

What would you do in this situation? Freak out knowing your clothing is now stained with deer blood? find the whole thing hilarious, knowing that this sounds like a bad horror film? Or would you feel bad for the deer? Let me know in a comment or two, here or on Facebook. be sure to stay safe on these kinds of things – even if no one was hurt; safety measures are kind of important!

film study: controversial movies

20140905-080626.jpg
have you ever watched a movie and wondered just how the director got away with something? Sometimes a scene in a film [sometimes the whole film] can be considered almost too inappropriate and end up leading it to being banned or branded as ‘controversial’ ! Movies like The Evil Dead, Hostel, and others were all banned when they first were released due to their violent content that disturbed people everywhere.

Sometimes, a film will spark controversy based on the background of the film; like Cannibal Holocaust in the above picture. The director was actually brought to court due to people believing [after the film was released] that they actually impaled the woman. He had to explain that it was achieved by having her sit on one end and hold the second post in her mouth for the shot. Scary enough, he ultimately was found guilty of boiling live turtles on the set of the film. [for the same of the film] I’m saying they weren’t props but actual living animals! Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike people, sometimes?

In this next segment, I’m going to mention a few other controversial films that come to mind, they’ve all been branded as such for reasons I’ll try and mention, so please note – possibility of spoilers coming up! :

well, this is awkward..

Another classic controversial film that many people are familiar with is: The Human Centipede. The concept is quite simple — two American girls get lost in Europe and a crazy Doctor ‘helps’ them..by sewing them mouth to butt to an Asian guy [who I’m pretty got lost himself.. Why does this kind of thing always happens in Europe?!] the sheer fact that it’s more psychological than blood and gore made this one disgustingly well done: the sequel to the film showed everything you would have expected from the first: with gore, violence and baby squishing [I wish I were kidding about that last bit]

that can’t be comfortable..

If you had to guess what happened here, what would you assume? there was acid in the bathtub? this man slipped and hit his head? What if I told you that this scene from I Spit On Your Grave involved a woman cutting a guy’s penis off and leaving him to bleed out? cause that’s exactly what happened. [though, I don’t think that was this particular scene] The film was banned for obvious reasons with a the plot goes that a lonely writer was alone at her cabin and was raped and left for dead by three to guys. Her revenge tactics were a just a bit heavy for some.

special thanks to Fangoria for the picture!

For the final film on this list we have one I refuse to watch: A Serbian Film. It’s about a retired male porn star who gets one final job — which involves a lot of snuff and other disturbing content. I have no intends to watch it as it just seems to be the type of film that was made to be controversial, for the sake of being controversial. That, and the content is a little much for my tastes.

As noted above; sometimes, films are so violent or so extreme that they get themselves in trouble.. I’m looking at you CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. The only one on this list that I’ll recommend is “I Spit On Your Grave”. It’s violent as fuck but compared to the others, it’s definitely the better film of the group. Do you have a favorite of the 4? Do you plan on watching any of them? Just be warned of the content and I hope I helped you understand that films are actually able to be banned, if only for their contents.
