The Walking Dead

SPOILER TALK: Who DID Negan Kill During The Season 07 Premiere?

NOTE: Major spoilers below for anyone who hasn’t watched The Walking Dead season 7 premiere yet, but you probably knew that already..

Still here? Okay, if you are; that implies you’ve watched the premiere or you’re okay with [massive] spoilers. Ready? Here goes – Well, Walking Dead fans, we made it through the long and annoying wait from the Season 6 finale to the Season 7 premiere, and while the Negan cliffhanger of the previous season received its fair share of fan backlash, everyone involved with the show kept promising [continuously] that it would all be worth it when the premiere for Season 7 came around.. and indeed, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” lived up to a lot of the hype, dropping the [now dead] bodies of not just one major [and loved] character, but two. As revealed during Rick‘s mental torture session, Negan used his beloved Lucille to kill both Abraham Ford and Glenn Rhee, and although I would usually say I saw this coming.. I didn’t! So let’s talk about it – with spoilers of course – So, just what in the hell happened on the premiere?

While The Walking Dead TV show will be giving us a toned down Negan in the sense of  how over the top he is/can be, this scaled back version obviously doesn’t affect the brutality of his actions. We had to wait a while to actually get an answer to one of the biggest TV questions of the summer, and Negan got to show off some of his vicious savagery before “the big scene” by testing Rick‘s abilities by sticking him out in the walker filled wild. [Seriously, what a badass] But no amount of physical abuse to Rick could prepare us for how heavy the impact of the big moment, and the episode overall, drew out the appropriate amount of heart pounding pain we [probably] all felt on the way to Abraham dying through getting his skull busted..

As you no doubt felt too, seeing the result was an absolutely chilling scene to behold, almost more so than in the source material, and when Abraham‘s face was shown to be “the death,” I can only imagine so many viewers’ hearts were on the way to leaping out of their chests. But, because of course it did, it only got worse – way worse. In the moments afterward, as Negan completely destroyed all that was recognizable about everything above Abraham‘s neck, Daryl felt the need to be the big man by rising up to deck Negan square in the face. This led to a small speech [from Negan] about the group’s behavior, followed by an abrupt and sudden swing of Lucille down onto Glenn‘s unfortunately unprepared head.. Glenn‘s death was a much more heartbreaking one, as it followed pretty close to the comics, where he got to [at least] call for Maggie before he succumbed to his death. Plus, his eye did that popping out thing which is what happened in the comics, which looked absolutely sickening.

Based on what happened last night, we now have to get used to watching The Walking Dead without the macho and hardcore survivor skills of Abraham, as well as the gentle and moral couth of Glenn. There’s a ton of repercussions to this last episode: Maggie has to give birth to a child who will never know his or her father, and Eugene will be without Abraham and won’t be able to talk about stuff. Unfortunately – or fortunately, depending on how you look at it – the future does not look bright for everyone on this show – besides Negan, I guess. He seems to be okay – but it will all hopefully be extremely exciting either way. It is only just starting, and it started off strong. For the next seven weeks, you can expect The Walking Dead to air on Sunday nights on AMC, and then we’ll have to get used to waiting for more all over again during the typical mid-season halt. To see what else is hitting your TVs but without all of the bulging eyeballs and brain matter, you can always turn to the new season of Gotham or finally start Luke Cage – Hell, I have do continue/start both of those shows too..dammit. I haven’t really been all over watching THE WALKING DEAD lately, but after this premiere, I kind of want to go back and marathon the first six seasons and get a feel for the buildup – or maybe I just miss Glenn..

As always, now I turn to you – the reader, how did YOU feel about last night’s premiere of The Walking Dead? Did it live up to the hype? Or did you see the deaths happening from a mile away? Real Horror: BBC Presenter Cooks His Own Flesh [Just To See What It Tastes Like]

When you think of the word “cannibalism”, you probably think of zombies, or movies such as Cannibal Holocaust or The Green Inferno. It’s an odd concept – man eating man – that has been around for centuries. Even the Aztecs, who believed in the practice of eating another human, believed that by devouring their brethren; they would earn their “powers” or “abilities” in something that was more of a ritual, than a taboo. Cannibalism is one of those strange crimes that has always had the ability to physically turn stomachs as well as seem so incredibly disrespectful. For many people, it’s an absolutely sickening thought: eating another human being. But for others, there is a strange fascination when it comes to the thought of eating human flesh. Now before anyone jumps at me in the comments, I am in no way saying it’s okay or even promoting the idea of harming anyone in order to try and taste them. Instead, I’m here to talk about a BBC Presenter by the name of Greg Foot, and his Youtube video where he goes on a [personal] mission to discover what human flesh would actually taste like when it’s cooked. You read that correctly: BBC presenter Greg Foot cut out chunk of his own leg in the name of a taste test experiment. To begin this..”test”, Foot visited a local Doctor who took a biopsy of one of his quadriceps – located in the thigh- just so he could get it ready to cook and ultimately, eat.

As grim, and painful, as it sounds; Greg had a chunk of thigh removed and analyzed [by a food specialist] to learn more about the make up of the “meat” and it’s flavor. It was revealed that it was made up of the same type of muscle as chicken breast, as well as having a likeness to certain cuts of beef. Going even further, he then took the leg samples off to be analyzed to learn that his now cooked flesh smells ‘really meaty, a lot richer than pork or chicken. It smells a bit like beef and ale stew.’  BUT before we all get too excited – he didn’t actually eat the pieces from his leg. [wait, what?] Unsurprisingly, it is illegal to eat human flesh, even if it’s your own, so instead Greg worked off the smells he observed and made a composite burger out of similar flavors and the smells that were present.

[above: the actual “pieces” from Greg‘s biopsy]

Considering a total of 80% of the composition of the flavor is the smell, Greg cooked up a lamb, pork and beef burger to “mimic” what he imagined would be his own leg. Although it’s not technically his leg, it’s pretty close, which allows him to get as close to cannibalism as the law will allow. Greg was later quoted as saying: ‘I think that’s the closest I’ll ever get to eating human, and I tell you what – it’s pretty good.’ Now, the good part: above I mentioned how he did it for a Youtube video, and that was no exaggeration – I’ve included the video in this post, [I mean, why wouldn’t I?] and you’ll just have to tell me: given the chance, would YOU eat your own flesh? [At least, in the name of science] Let me know in the comments! So while it’s probably not what you expected, it goes to show that zombies might have the right idea when it comes to their preferred type of “meat.”

Bruce Campbell ‘accidentally’ releases his script for a “Ash VS The Walking Dead”

If you know me in real life or at least not on the internet, you’d know that movies like Army Of Darkness and the entire Evil Dead trilogy, are some of my favorite films of all time. It was proven when I started babbling on about how I’m currently obsessing over Ash Vs Evil Dead, which I’m strongly considering one of the greater things to come out of TV in a while. Now, the one show I haven’t really given a chance, even though I keep saying I will, is The Walking Dead. But here’s a funny thought: what do you suppose would happen if Ash were to go up against the Walkers from The Walking Dead, instead of Deadites? Plus, if this were to happen, would Rick be there to help? Or would Ash get caught doing all the work? Luckily for us, it seems we’re not the only ones who are curious about this kind of thing – as Bruce Campbell, Ash himself – ‘accidentally’ released his script of how he thinks it’d play out on Twitter. Check out the tweet below!

Even if you’re more of a Walking Dead than a Evil Dead fan, you have to hand it to Bruce Campbell – he’s really confident in Ash‘s abilities over Rick‘s as far as zombie slaying goes. As proven by the above tweet, this [obviously fake] screenplay takes us back to the moment Rick Grimes wakes up from the hospital [all the way back in season one!] and realizes the world has been destroyed. Only this time, things are different from the pilot episode of – Ash is waiting outside with his signature 1973 Oldsmobile Delta Royale, and in perfect fashion, seemingly takes all the credit for “taking care of the zombie apocalypse.” To add to all this, it comes off as true to Ash as a character, since we all know he probably was the one who made it all happen, again, which is how the series would continue from that point.

I love that this feels like an alternate universe, and just like “Freddy VS Jason VS Ash,” maybe we can get this in comic book form. [time to make up a petition!] I mean, I remember when F VS J VS A was going to be a movie; and when it got dropped – we got an insane comic book.. who knows? Maybe Campbell can play the cards right, and make it happen! [though, I feel like it’s unlikely..] Oh, and that coffee stain? I’m going to go out on a whim an say it’s quite an excellent homage to Sam Raimi’s other, albeit less popular, compared to Evil Dead film Darkman.

So what do you think? Would you watch an Ash VS The Walking Dead TV show? Or is it all wishful thinking on my part, because I think it’d be a blast! Maybe I’m bias though, being a fan of The Evil Dead and all. Maybe Rick is a good zombie hunter, I mean; I’ve only seen season one [I’m preparing for hate in the comments!*] On a completely separate note, I know I seem to have disappeared for this past week, only really sharing things on the Facebook page, rather than writing a new post. [I kept meaning to write something, I swear!] However, every time I got the chance, I was either too exhausted or I had something more important to do. Afterall, this is a hobby; and life comes first. Speaking of, without going too into detail, something new is in the making in my ‘real world’ life – outside of warrenisweird – which I will talk about when the time is right. So be prepared for that! I have no idea when, but hopefully soon! ANYWAY..
